In this show, Anita presents her findings about some of the key
issues that seniors from India face in the U.S., and what affects
the quality of their life here, and her recommendations. Mrs.
Godhwani highlights the programs and services that ICC offers to
this group of seniors, which is a great model for Indo-American
communities all over the U.S. Mike talks about what COA, a
mainstream area agency in Santa Clara offers to all seniors.
Similar mainstream agencies are there in most counties around
the country.

More about Dr. Anita Jhunjhunwala Mukherjee
With a doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Anita strives to bring the
focus from physical health to mental health and from mere living to the
quality of life. Her dissertation research was on quality of life of Indian
older adults who immigrate to the United States to reunite with their adult
children. Currently, she contracts with Santa Clara County’s mental
health department as well as works on her licensing hours as a
psychological assistant in a private setting. She is also a member of
Council on Aging Silicon Valley Advisory Committee, and president of
Silicon Valley chapter of Indian Institute of Science Alumni Association of
North America. Previously, she has worked on the suicide prevention
program, counseled veterans, and has volunteered with the Suicide and
Crisis hotline. Prior to embracing psychology, Dr. Mukherjee has worked
in the software industry in different countries for many years, as a
computer engineer, a project manager, and an entrepreneur.
